When seeing the PocketPC, my imagination ran wild. Who cool would it be if you could make your own music while commuting in the train? Tahts when I thought I needed to compile Jaytrax for the PocketPC, and just change the UI. Syntrax featured sound synthesis, a sequencer, a sampler all while being severly constraint by the hardware. Even though the PocketPC had an Arm processor, it didn’t have good floating point support and the clockspeed was very low. So all waveform calculations were done in fixed-point, in tight loops just to make it performant and usable.
Syntrax won a few awards. Best software for PocketPC and best software for UIQ (A mobile phone OS from SonyEricsson back when iOS and Android were not invented yet)
